A Web of Words

Signage is universal. Signs weave the stories of our daily narratives, our passages through. Some signs communicate seamlessly. The stop sign, for example, is spare and elegant. There is no extra baggage associated with a stop sign. Its eight-sided shape is pleasant, yet commanding. The red and white color scheme pops out in our greenish-grayish world.
Complex signs create their own narrative. The viewer is slightly disoriented and then enlightened.
The Passing Through project creates new signs and changes old signs. Our goal is to delight through a process of disorientation which leads to a new way of seeing.
